NOVAS Seniors Graduating Class of 2025 is Recognized for Service to Torrance Memorial Medical Center
April 29, 2025

The Luminaries and NOVAS of Torrance Memorial Medical Center are volunteer organizations established in 1990, bringing together mothers and their high school children (Novas) to support the hospital through service and financial contributions. Over the years, they have collectively donated over $543,000 to fund vital hospital projects.

For the 2024-2025 year, Novas volunteered approximately 10,000 hours. Luminaries have also contributed approximately 5,000 hours. Together, Luminaries and Novas continue to make a meaningful impact through their dedication and service, lifting patients’ spirits and supporting the hard-working Torrance Memorial staff. Volunteers continued their tradition of bringing comfort to patients and appreciation to hospital staff by treating them to thousands of baked goods along with care packages, hand-made blankets, and festive decorations. Novas worked in escort services to assist throughout the hospital. The end of year donation to the hospital will exceed $13,000 with additional “wish list” items valued at $2,500 donated to the neonatal intensive care, pediatric, burn, and transitional care units. Additionally, the group played a special role in celebrating two major milestones: Torrance Memorial’s Centennial Celebrations and the 35th anniversary of the Luminaries and NOVAS organizations.

Congratulations to the 12 graduating high school seniors from the NOVAS of Torrance Memorial Medical Center. The 2025 graduating class celebrated their achievements with a special senior gift package, including leis, gift cards, and photos to commemorate their time in the program. Their experiences in the organization have reinforced the value of service and giving back to their community, creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
