b'W e S aluteO urH eroesIt would be a supreme understatement to say 2020 has been a crazy year . But from the onset of the pandemic, our community has shown incredible support, strength, innovation and certainly generosity . The year began with a commitment by the Medical Center to support the Lundquist Lurie Cardiovascular Institute . A lavish dinner at the beautiful home of the Gregorios was the starting gate for our tremendous support . Then, less than a week later, Governor Newsom declared an emergency and our lives were flipped upside down . Torrance Memorials attention turned to coping with COVID and minimizing complications . Laura and Judy adjusted the course of support and the South Bay rallied Mark Lurie, M .D . donating in-kind resources, meals and financial support to keep us moving through this monumental pandemic .Tonight, our sights will be directed back to again support the Cardiovascular Institute . Im proud to say we have a fine-tuned, well-integrated cardiology team . And as Ive said before, if we were a National Football League team, we would be accused of stealing all the first-round draft choices . Our level of expertise in cardiac interventions, treatment of structural heart disease, electrophysiology and partnership with Cedars-Sinai in cardiovascular surgery have earned us the honor of being included among the top 50 cardiac programs in the US by Newsweek magazine .I would like to salute the heroes of Torrance Memorial Medical Center for carrying us through these very difficult times . As always, we realize that none of this would be possible without the support of our community team . A big thanks to you allstay safe and well .Mark Lurie, MDPresident, Torrance Memorial Foundation BoardMedical Director, Lundquist Lurie Cardiovascular Institute4 - 2020 Holiday Festival'
